8 days South Circuit
Day 1: Dar es Salaam> Selous. You will be picked up from your hotel / airport in Dar es salaam drive to Selous game reserve which is approximates 4 hours driving, arrive at your camp/lodge in time for lunch (or if arriving late than just light refreshments). Nestled within the woodland along the banks of the great Rufiji River. Enjoy sunset moments on our comfortable rooms, watching for hippos, crocodiles and birds, and enjoying the spectacular sunset over this enormous river. Dinner and your overnight stay at camp.
Day 2:Selous. After breakfast in the morning enjoy full day game drive by modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. Great animals sightings including all the great favorites lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. You will also see a large variety of birds, wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far off mountains, in the afternoon packed lunch and some time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink, enjoy 3 hours boat safari in Rufiji river in the evening you will head back to the camp/ lodge for a delicious sunset dinner when you’re ready and then retire for the night.
Day 3: Selous> Mikumi. After breakfast you will drive to Mikumi National Park via Northern Selous which is 4 hours driving. Whilst on safari you will see a wide variety of bird species, zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland antelope, giraffe, buffalo and elephants. If you are lucky you may also be able to spot lions, leopards and African wild dogs. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day and dinner and your overnight stay at the camp/ lodge.
Day 4: Mikumi. Enjoy a full day of game drives in Mikumi National Park. You will have a picnic lunch and get the chance to see some of what you missed on the first day in the park. Your dinner and overnights stay will be at the camp/lodge.
Day 5: Mikumi> Ruaha. After breakfast early in the morning from Mikumi drive direct to Ruaha national park almost 274 km with lunch boxes via Iringa town, you will be passing through country side and have nice scenery, beautiful valleys and mountains. Upon arrival you will visit the museum which holds the head of the great local chief Mkwawa who resisted the Germans in Iringa town, then drive to camp/lodge.
Day 6: Ruaha. After breakfast from the camp/lodge experience a full day game drive with packed lunch. Between two rivers, Njombe to the north and Ruaha to the east, the great Ruaha River, which flows along its entire eastern border, creates spectacular gorges and scenery and features a large of number of hippos. The park supports several antelope species that are uncommon in the most of Tanzania, such as greater kudu, sable and roan and crocodiles, overnight staying at the camp/ the lodge.
Day 7: Ruaha. Another full day game drive with packed lunch boxes. You will spend the day discovering and exploring Ruaha National Park. Enjoy game drive inside the park. The park is also known for its sable and roan antelopes, and its rich bird life. With herds of more than 10,000 elephants, vast concentrations of buffalo, gazelle and over 400 bird species. Overnight staying at the camp/ in lodge.
Day 8:Ruaha> Dar es Salam. After breakfast you will start driving back to Dar es Salam city where we can drop you off at your hotel or the airport for your own late evening flight home or to continue your holiday at Zanzibar. Breakfast and a lunch box will be provided.
