Kyaninga lodge Kibale

Location: Set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Kyaninga and the Rwenzori Mountains beyond, Kyaninga Lodge is the spectacular result of one man’s vision and six years of unwavering dedication to creating a unique experience of African beauty.

Rooms: Nine exclusive cottages made from hand-carved logs, excellent restaurants and a wealth of adventures await. The nine houses, separate and raised on platforms, offer you privacy and tranquility.

Facilities: Each spacious cottage has a choice of twin or double beds made up with the softest bedding and feather pillows. A covered seating area leads to a private terrace where you can enjoy morning tea or coffee with views over the lake and the Rwenzori Mountains. The en-suite bathrooms have marble countertops atop carved Elgon olive pedestals, claw-foot freestanding baths and glass-enclosed showers. With modern solar energy you always have hot water and electric charging points.

Restaurant: The menu is based on classic European cuisine and adapted to use local ingredients, many of which are hand-picked from Kyaninga Lodge’s own kitchen garden or neighboring markets.

Lodge facilities: The terrace leads to the swimming pool with a view over the lake. Clad in pavers cut from the local volcanic rock and with two wooden decks, the pool provides the perfect space to relax and unwind. There is a lounge with a bar where you can enjoy a drink in the evening. On the terrace you can relax on sun loungers while enjoying the view of Lake Kyaninga.

Activities: Kyaninga is situated on the edge of a rare volcanic crater lake and offers spectacular walks on the doorstep. Take a guided walk with one of the lodge guides around the rim of the crater lake and see it in all its majesty. Or a walk to the lake through the ‘land that time forgot’ forest at Kyaninga. From Kyaninga you can visit the local villages and get a fascinating insight into rural Ugandan life. A little further, and you can hike up to the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley itself and gaze in wonder as East Africa opens up below you. There is so much to do at Kyaninga,
